    The practice and effects of corporate media relations in Chennai: Beyond just denials and evolving?

    This study aims to research on the changing perception and importance attached to media relations by corporate houses and business journalists in India specifically Chennai - where traditionally media relations was never practiced professionally - where relations with the print or electronic media was limited to issuing denials and seeking distance (Sengupta, 2006), with the concept of a low-key profile.The study is based on in-depth interviews of communication managers of 13 orgnanisations and 10 journalists from print and television media.The findings could provide insights for academicians and researchers on the change in media relations practice and its effects on media reporting in emerging IT hubs in India and other similar regions in the world

    No Plastic campaign is important in order to reduce the use of plastics that will lead to a greener environment, reduce the problem of marine litter and contribute to efficient garbage landfill process. Penang launched the No Plastic campaign on daily basis starting 1 January 2011. A twenty cents charge per plastics will be the charge for each plastic bag request by the consumer. The objective of this study is to identify the understanding and awareness level of consumer towards the campaign’s objective and to relate the consumers’ behaviour towards the campaign. The significance of this study is to determine the understanding of consumer towards green campaign. The method that will be using is target-sampling method targeted people who live in Penang Island, whereby the respondent will be selected based on the opportunity sampling method

    Factors influencing the quality of e-Services on Hospital Information System (HIS) in Malaysia

    This research explores the applicability of quality e-services (QES) in new media and looks at how facilities, promotion and IT knowledge influence the levels of QES in new media for four hospitals in Malaysia. Methodologically, it uses quantitative approaches.The research was conducted at the four government hospitals in Malaysia: Selayang's Hospital, Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Putrajaya Hospital.As for the main objective, the study showed that there is significant relationship between the antecedents’ factors of QES in new media.Furthermore, the element of facilities showed the most significant relationship for QES

    Television crime dramas and shows are very popular all over the world.This popularity is not bound to a certain age group, rather all the TV viewers like these shows very much.Like other countries, dozens of TV channels are telecasting these crime shows in Pakistan.Furthermore, few of the channels telecast crime shows at prime time which attests the popularity of such genre.Some of the media contents behave in morally disputed ways.The crime depictions as re-enactments of TV crime shows are questionable in the field of research signifying diverse cultural contexts.A large number of people are habitual to watch these shows, which may probably come out with negative behavioural outcomes.Especially the children who are at their behavioural developmental phase; are more susceptible to adopt negative behavioural leanings.In this research effort, introduction and detail of TV crime shows in Pakistan are provided, the literature concerning “media as risk factor” in children development is discussed, and relevant theories inferences are deliberated.it was found that media has powerful role in behaviour formulating of children and violence media portrayal (TV crime shows) may appear with grave concerns.Previous scientific literature was reviewed to find and discuss the problem in hand.     Events are important in tourism as they can enhance the attraction of tourist destinations and enrich the experiences of tourists. Additionally, hosting events such as cultural celebrations and arts festivals can generate a positive impact, revitalise traditions and culture; enhance national pride; and develop a sense of belonging. In the context of tourism field, much research has shown there are some efforts to include people with disabilities (PWDs) into the society by encouraging social tourism and accessible tourism. However, in event management, there are limited studies which focus on the topics of inclusive events and PWDs especially in the context of Malaysia. Thus, the main aim of this paper is to explore on event managers perspective pertaining inclusive events and PWDs. This paper will emphasis at the possibilities for event managers to organise inclusive events. It will also focus on event managers’ awareness towards PWDs as their potential attendees. Apart from that, it is also aimed at assessing the impending barriers for the event managers in their intention to manage an inclusive event
